Ug. You'd think from this show that every single model in the modeling world has to do nude work in order to actually make a living from the way this show goes about it.

They only seem to have nude shots in the seasons where there is one or more contestants they think won't do it. And then they make them choose between doing something they believe is wrong and staying in the competition. And they only do it to heighten the drama and/or to get rid of certain contestants.

I find it really irritating personally.

yeah srsly, they should say 'okay, you don't do nude? we'll make this swimsuit or underwear for you then'. IRL they wouldn't go to a casting for this type of photoshoot so..

Yeah, I remember that being Shannon's big issue during the all-star cycle. The judges made a huge deal about it and she's all "my agency never sends me for stuff like this so it's not even an issue for me IRL." Sure it technically limits the jobs you can get, but there won't exactly be on-set drama if you don't even go in the first place and there are still plenty of clothed jobs out there to choose from.

I'm so over this season, and it just started! Showing all the pictures beforehand makes it start to drag on and oooonnn.

Anyone watching? I'm betting on Victoria or Maria as the girl who refuses to do the nude shoot.

Destiny looks hot with short hair and it doesn't make me think that she is a lesbian at all. That is one of the silliest things I have heard.

I agree. Did they say she's bi? That's kind of cool. I guess she's the token non-hetero girl this season.

I think she said she likes both, but she has a boyfriend at the moment. Makes no difference to me, she is a beautiful girl and takes good pictures

Now, my real ass bitchiness thinks Tyra needs to stop making people blonde.

I completely agree. Although, I hate the bleached eyebrows worse. That girl actually looked okay blonde.
But people without eyebrows look like aliens and not in a good way.

I like all of the makeovers with the exception of Leila. Why the hell did they make her blonde?

Any time someone talks about staying true to themselves, they always end up leaving the competition.

Victoria: "'I'm a bitch. No, I'm a real bitch.' That's not an argument." For once, Victoria and I agree.

I'm loving this season but for real, the social media thing is ridiculous.

Brittany looks a little like Naomi Watts with her new hair.

I'd freak out a little posing nude with Rob too. He's fine as hell.

Maria! You already came out of the closet as a model, and now you're not a model? You're going to have people thinking it's a choice. You've set modeling rights back a generation today.

God, Victoria has homeschooled written all over her. I kind of like her though. She's so earnest about everything, and the way she talks kills me. "What words of encouragement do you have for me today?!"

I think that's its pretty cool that they gave the girls a choice about whether they wanted to go through with the makeover. It's interesting both from a personal and a tv perspective. Kelly Cutrone's bully will never cease to bother me, though.

And I'm getting more used to this cycle's scoring schtick. lI can see the appeal and it's kind of fun. By the end, I was even anxious to see each of the girls' social media scores! This might just grow on me by the end of the cycle.

I have to say that the clone makeup for panel really bugs me, though. Last week all the girls were wearing red lipstick. This week it was really black smokey eyes. There's just something odd about trying to style all of their makeup the same and then grouping them together like that.

I will say I loved Kelly's line about "You're defending mediocrity." Ha! Maria was annoying and very mediocre anyway.

I'm LOVING Brittany's makeover. She looked good before, too, but for such a radical change she pulls it off really well.
I think Brittany and Leila are my favorites so far. I like Victoria as a model, but personality-wise for me she's 50% endearing and 50% unbelievably annoying.
I was kinda disappointed in Maria...I mean, if I were her, I probably would've quit too, but she was incredibly disrespectful. Kelly is really annoying and condescending, yes, but that doesn't mean you should call her a c*** (I'm assuming that's what the bleeped-out word was, considering how shocked the other girls were about it). At some points, it seemed like Maria was trying to try every tactic possible to get off the show.

On some of the other communities people are actually defending Maria's use of that word in the context. I don't get it. It was so unprofessional and incredibly disrespectful. She auditioned to be on the show - what an ungraceful way to bow out.

Even if Kelly is awful.

Why do they have to have the same makeups in judgings? Last week it was red lipstick, this week the brown smokey eye, what's up with that? In previous seasons they would have said that all the girls this week have too much make up on, but all of a sudden they don't need to be "blank canvases".

Maybe I should just stop trying to make sense of this show.

I like it, actually. Surely having the same make-up makes the girls more like blank canvases (for the make-up in question) as opposed to being individualistic/having signature style already.

Sep. 10th, 2012 11:42 am (UTC)
I guess we just define blank canvas in different ways; I would prefer them all with minimal or no make up, that is a blank canvas for me 'cause you get to see their natural beauty (if they have any).

Generally I just think it's stupid to make the girls do makeups they don't know how to do, some of the girls looked like a hungover Taylor Momsen in the last judging.

Victoria is quickly becoming one of my personal favorite contestants ever. Her really odd quirks are endearing to me. Also, I hope she makes a workout video someday.

What the hell is with this season's scoring system? At some point, will the decision EVER come to the judges? Does this mean that all the way down to the Final 2, America basically decides the winner? How do the Clients feel about this? It's already been revealed that in cycles 1-18, it was basically the Client who decides the winner and the judges basically have less than 2% say in the decision (seasons 3, 4 and 15 it was obvious the judges didnt pick the winner... aint no way CoverGirl would let BumpyFace Yaya take a makeup contract, and helllooooo, Mann had Italian Vogue written on her forehead...).

Is 'America' really the final vote all the way down to the last week?

PS: Lovvvvvin the new sexy judge... I feel like if I ever meet Tyra I want to slap her and be like "Seasons 2-18 you kept referring to him as 'the Sexy Noted Fashion Photographer Nigel Barker'... Bitch you had no idea what sexy meant!"

I was really curious about the voting as well. I think that they know what the social media votes and then they pre-determine what score they give them.. because today Tyra gave someone shit (the basketball real bitch) and then gave them a 9??? Probably so they couldn't be voted out.

"You're really committed to defending mediocrity" should be ANTM's motto. Thanks Kelly!

Victoria is gorgeous. I wish she wasn't basically a less liberal Carrie White. Her personality and Kristin's effortless bitchiness are making this cycle kind of cute.

Brittany's makeover makes her look like Natasha Lyonne in But I'm a Cheerleader.

What's the point in giving someone a choice if you're going to criticize their decision. Kelly was seriously rude and unprofessional. All that said, it was pretty obvious Maria was not going to last in the competition. I think she realized she was not as good/beautiful/modelesques as she thought she was and would rather quit than fail. It's very difficult and shattering to the ego when you are use to succeeding at everything you do but no matter how hard you try and how pretty you think you are, you're just is not good enough.

Tyra stop objectifying Rob!!!!! He is so much more than a pretty face. He endeared himself to me even more when he was so encouraging to Destiny.

I think Victoria is my favorite so far.....She's like anti-hip......She cracks me up....what decade is she from because I don't know any 18 year old girl who articulate themselves the way she does.

I'm with you. Kelly was absolutely inappropriate. Personally, I thought Maria was lovely the way she is and I loved the comments about her being "stupid" from the girls who were fighting over who was a "real beotch." Dumb. I'm digging Victoria too. I hope she doesn't lose who she is because of Tyra's crap.

I like this cycle.

Victoria is my girl. I think Leila and Laura were cuter with dark hair, I don't understand the need to go blonde. But they are my favorites, the three of them.

Love Victoria and Leila. I hope they make it far! I think Victoria seems like a great person, just ill equipped for a lot of these social situations. I really appreciated how she came around after the make-over and curled her own hair for panel and the photoshoot, how adorable!

I'm glad Darian left, I'm always surprised when Tyra describes someone as 'effervescent' and as having 'lots of personality' when the girl in question has only be shown as being obnoxious in the house. Classic Coryn/Lisa syndrome, with Kiara being misunderstood and quite viciously ganged up upon. I'm also disappointed with Destiny's attitude. It's just haiiiirrrrrrrrrrrr

Just had a chance to watch, and I'm surprised how much Victoria is growing on me. She is basically the best/worst of reality TV, and I love it.

I'm not really a fan of the new scoring system, though. Part of it is because I'm just annoyed the social media score is coming from people who voted months ago. I'd feel way more invested if they'd figured out a way to make it a real-time experience when the cycle aired. I'm addicted to ANTM enough that I'm still watching, but I wasn't going to do extra work over the summer for this show. Plus I never really cared for spoilers, so when people stopped posting the photos here, I decided to stop looking at them. But now that I'm thinking about it, does this mean the "Comeback Series" is equally meaningless for those who didn't vote in advance? Because I just went and watched one of the episodes on CW's site, and thought it was kind of a fun idea, but unless they didn't yet film the finale/however many episodes the comeback girl will get to participate in, does it really matter anymore? And to wrap up my complaints about the changes, judging itself just seems so arbitrary now: "Your photo is hideous, but I still think you're fierce, so I'm giving you a 9."

This episode was so frustrating. Kelly was absolutely inappropriate with her verbal berating of Maria. Personally, I thought Maria was lovely the way she is and I loved the comments about her being "stupid" from the girls who were fighting over who was a "real beotch." Dumb. Also, I''m sick of the Harvard crap. We've all said it before but getting an actual degree from Harvard, like Maria, is not the same thing as spending a few weeks in an extension class to get a certificate. Tyra is a joke.
