E! Interview with the Latest Eliminee

The latest girl sent home tells us how she really feels about Tyra. Snap.

"I think they edited me to make me look like I was spoiled. I am completely opposite of the character they made me be on the show," America's Next Top Model eliminee Natalie Pack tells us. "They actually cut and pasted lines to make me sound like I was a spoiled brat because they were so desperate to make me look that way.

"I felt like they didn't have enough drama since Sandra left, so they chose me," she continues. "I was the lucky one who got chosen to be the drama show."

Yes, lucky her to be picked as the drama queen, but she denies every word of it even after accusing Tyra Banks of some very "shady" deeds...

After Natalie explained to Tyra that Jay had her holding the same pose through her shoot, Tyra shot down her allegations. Says Natalie, "It was very, very shady. I think the judges thought that I lied and that's why I got sent home. I have a feeling Tyra and Jay [Manuel] don't really click that well because they have totally different ideas, especially for the Carmen Miranda shoot. The girls that Jay said were doing bad got great photos in panel, and vice versa. I have a feeling they didn't even really communicate because to have completely opposite ideas that you want the girls to do is completely ridiculous and unfair."

That's not the only odd thing happening behind the scenes. Since Aminat's been in the bottom two for two straight weeks and hasn't gotten eliminated, suspicions from Natalie have arisen that Tyra's playing favorites. "Tyra definitely has a soft spot for Aminat and Teyona. I think she just loves [their] personalities. I feel like they're most relatable to Tyra, since Tyra was a black model struggling. I think she has a hidden emotional connection with the black girls, and I think that's where a lot of favoritism comes from. I'm not accusing her of it, but that's just my opinion," Natalie tells us.

Still, Natalie believes Teyona will be crowned Top Model this season. "I think Teyona will [win], but I hope Allison will. Teyona has the judges on her side; she has the ability to take a great picture. Though, when you see her in person, it's like, how do you even tell that she's a model? With Allison you know she's a model. She's beautiful, and she has something special. I really want Allison to win, but I think it's going to be Teyona."

Do you think Natalie was portrayed badly or is there truth behind the editing? Chat about it among yourselves.

I think we've all noticed the increasingly large disconnect between Tyra and Jay, and I think Natalie makes a really good point to say it isn't fair to have people judging you based on something that very clear is not going to impress them/fit their standards (ie Tyra bitchfighting with Jay all the time).

Natalie's face when she was hugging Tyra was the best. I hope it gets GIFed. She's clearly in denial about herself. Sure, they might've edited it, but she still said all those things.

I agree with EVERYTHING she said. Though I seriously seriously hope Teyona doesn't win

I agree that she's totally coming at this with feelings of entitlement. But, I also think she might be right about the Jay/Tyra disconnect, which seems like it could also be just laziness/unprofessionalism on the part of the show. The "Tyra likes the Black girls cuz they're Black!" thing is just stank. God forbid some Black women get an advantage in any arena (though I'm not sure they actually do on the show).

You know, I can kinda believe it. I really do agree with her on some things, though. Like Jay and Tyra's completely different opinions. That's been happening for a while now and it's gotten so predictable that I can tell who'll do badly in panel by listening to Mr. Jay.

I also think Tyra plays favorites. I mean, c'mon, look how long Tahlia stayed. Aminat's also lesws than impressive to me. At least Teyona manages to take more good shots than bad.

I still think she's a spoiled brat, but she definitely makes a lot of good points about Tyra, Jay and the judges.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:25 pm (UTC)
agreed. They edit you to death and all but to a certain extent. yes they. make you repeat things that they want you to say.. over and over to get the end result in OTF's or interviews and they Do take your confessionals and loop them to create a soundcbyte they can make something out of..... or the producers go.. 'say it more like this'' and repeat their questions in your answer... but not in the way that she did when things were candid .. editting can only fabricate so much.

Spoiled or not, gurl said the truest things ever instead of the usual "OMG BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE" ala Tahlia.

I'm probably the only person to have liked Natalie all along lol, but I like her even better now.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:23 pm (UTC)
While I agree with some of what she said, like about the disconnect between Jay and Tyra, and about Tyra playing favorites, Natalie was always portrayed as a little princess, from the very beginning of the show. There was never any editing there. I mean, remember her audition? Where she's all "I've never paid for anything! Tee!" and why would the other girls be commenting about her attitude if she didn't have one? So yeah, I buy some of it, but not her defense of herself.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:32 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I think she's a bit spoiled, but I also think Tyra was really pushing it. It's likely they exaggerated some of it to really make her seem like that.

How many times have I heard a contestant say that the show tends to focus on only one aspect of their personalities? I think even Analeigh said something like that once. So I do kind of think Tyra gave her a "spoiled princess" edit, but as always there has to be a little something there to allow Tyra to run away with it.

Natalie is a spoiled child but she is 100% right about the disconnect between Tyra and Jay and about Tyra's favoritism.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:27 pm (UTC)
I knew her interviews would be good. She looked liked she wanted to rip out Tyra's weave after when Tyra was hugging her. But seriously, the disconnect between Jay and Tyra is really bad, aren't they like bffs. Every week it's "Jay: That was amazing X" cut to the judges "Wow, that was shitty, X."
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:29 pm (UTC)
I was hoping she'd walk away and not let Tyra hug her. That's what she looked like she wanted to do anyways. Has anyone ever done that to Tyra before? I can't recall...

I love it too. I firmly believe many of the girls only have positive things to say about Tyra and the show after they're eliminated because they don't want to burn bridges with Tyra and hope she'll assist them post show...which I doubt ever happens (unless it's for increased ratings, such as Modelville).

i agree with what she said about Tyra, but she's lying to herself if she truly believes she's not spoiled or stuck up. I know editing is really crafty, but she called the other girls "hillbillies" in the episode with Mckey, she said something like she has nice things and is only used to nice things or w/e. She seems like she's stuck up in real life to me. But she's totally on point with her critique of Tyra.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:32 pm (UTC)
Oh no she DI'INT!

In reality though the disconnect b/n Tyra and Jay is not cool...but most of this seems like sour grapes to me.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:40 pm (UTC)
She comes from a privileged background, and that's colored her viewpoints on things, and she probably did/does feel a certain sense of entitlement - but the editing milked every drop out of every privileged, entitled eye twitch she happened to make. Everyone on ANTM is a stereotype. The contestants have got to realize that by now.
Apr. 23rd, 2009 10:43 pm (UTC)
I am 100% with Natalie on Tyra identifying with and favoring the black girls.

In before cries of "that's racist!"
Apr. 25th, 2009 12:36 pm (UTC)
I think Tyra calls herself giving Black girls the benefit of the doubt. However, although a weaker Black girl might stay in the competition a smidgen longer than their non-Black counterparts but that girl will eventually be eliminated too if she's not up to snuff.

I'm not a fan of Aminat's personality, but I feel like she looks the most like a model and Tyra calls herself giving her a chance to meet up to their potential. This kind of reminds me of Brooke from Cycle 6. Make no mistake Aminat's days are numbered.

I was certainly no fan of Natlie's personality, or her modeling - but I did think her elimination was kinda BS. A lot of those first eliminations after arriving at the intl destination are, it seems.
